TEXAS – A Blending of Cultures Fiber Arts Exhibit

The Texas Museum of Fiber Arts is pleased to announce a Call for Entries for the TEXAS – A Blending of Cultures Fiber Arts Exhibit during the month of May 2010. Fiber Arts, fine arts, refreshments, and educational speakers are arranged throughout the month’s exhibit.

The annual event provides a social, cultural experience of fine arts with scheduled featured speakers. As part of the May 2010 program, TMFA will present a slide show and lectures on Fiber Art. In conjunction with this, works of fiber artists will be on display. The exhibit is open to all, free of charge. For more information see: www.texasfiberarts.org.

ELIGIBILITY: All submissions must be original in content and executed in a fiber arts technique or process. Applicant must be currently living in Texas, born in Texas, or attending, attended, or graduated from a Texas educational institution. Once a Texan, always a Texan. (No age requirement.)

NEW THEME AWARD: Art may be a blending of any of the cultural influences in Texas; a blending of processes, a blending of fibers; a blending of materials; a blending of concepts contributing to Texas.

APPLICATION: Two photos or two digital photos are to accompany an official, completed application for each work. No limit on the number of submissions. An application must be attached to each submission.

REQUIREMENTS and CONDITIONS:
All submissions must be original work in concept, design, and process. Submissions must be completely ready for installation. Individual or collaborative entries are accepted.

Alice @ 97.3 radio in San Francisco announces Call for Entries for the seventh annual 3-Minute Independent Film Festival which will be held March 26, 2010 at the historic Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco. With over $10,000 in cash and prizes, extensive radio exposure and more, this season's juried competition offers filmmakers a unique opportunity to showcase their 'short' cinematic masterpiece and be honored in an evening that celebrates the art of short film. Over the last 5 years, more the 100 short films have been screened at Alice's 3-Minute Film Festival with over $70,000 in cash and prizes awarded. We are looking forward to receiving more innovative and creative works for our 2009/10 festival.

Alice's 3-Minute Independent Film festival is looking for short film submissions in the following categories:

# Drama /Documentary
# Comedy
# Animation
# Original music video

The only limit to creativity is the running time of your film. Your short film must be 2 - 5 minutes long. The running time does not count closing credits, so your film can run over 5 minutes if you're running closing credits. Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2010. Submissions are free. Enter today. Your film could be chosen and showcased at Alice's Film Festival on March 26, 2010 where an esteemed jury will choose the best overall film in each category to win cash and prizes in a special award ceremony at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco. Motion Portraiture and Self-Portraiture: Cornell Cinema

The Cornell Council for the Arts, Prudence Risley Residential College for the Creative and Performing Arts at Cornell University, and Cornell Cinema invite submissions of motion portraits and self-portraits for a curated screening.

Through this open call, we seek to uncover the full depth and range of contemporary portraiture and self-portraiture in time-based arts. Broad interpretations of “portrait” and “self-portrait” are welcome. Accepting all artworks which can be screened in video (including film, video, motion graphics, animation, programming, game interfaces, flip books, etc.) Due to scheduling limitations, works under 5 minutes preferred. Exhibition of the curated show will be at Cornell Cinema in April 2010.All entries must be postmarked by March 15th, 2010. There is no entry fee.
